The solution to the problem of ‘solid geometry’ wasn’t to be found until the ‘discovery’, or should one say ‘invention’ of mathematical linear perspective during the Renaissance. There is no doubt in my mind that had the ancient Greeks understood perspective or renaissance artists done more work in solid geometry this pentagonal proposition would have either been included in Euclid’s books or at least have been in the aether around 1953.
